the Gospel According to Oprah
Wow, Athena, thank you for this link.
You have got to see this. These ladies are KEEPIN' IT REAL, YO! How brave are they, to stand up to Oprah's "We're all good" hoo ha?
Wow.

Is it interesting to anyone else that Oprah's view is, intrinsically, the same as saying that there is one way? To say that there is more than one Absolute Truth is trying to state an Absolute Truth in itself. And in studying the Bible more and more I'm seeing just how controversial Jesus was when he walked this planet.
More on this later.

We went to a GREAT restaurant called the Blue Koi - if you live here, it's GREAT! That's one thing I love about my city - so many non-chain, non run-of-the-mill restaurants. Jess, you'll love it here! I DID get a dirty look for breastfeeding, and even saw the woman turn to her husband and say, "I can't believe she's doing that HERE!" EVERYTHING WAS COVERED. I was about to say something to her but just gave her some pleasant smiles and acted like I didn't notice. Sometimes it WOULD be nice to live in Europe.

We gave Asher his first actual bath this morning. I love that kid. He just wanted to be snuggled up in his blankets again. No, he didn't sleep a 9-hour-night...it was just alot easier to feed him, etc., with him right next to me instead of in the other room in his bassinet.

Ha, Ha Rach. I will be there in a couple months and then we can go somewhere to eat and I will nurse my almost 2 year old and I'm sure you will get no looks for nursing little Asher then -they will all be focusing their ire on me! Don't even get me started on our backward country and the unfriendly atmosphere for public (discreet) breastfeeding. I see teen girls with their T&A hanging out of their skimpy clothes and no one ever says a thing. Oh, and what about all the pre-teen girls with those warm up pants with words like "adorable" across the butt. And the musician who showed up at an awards show with just a pastie over her nipple- I guess her breast was attractive enough to be seen by millions since it had sparkly adornment. Maybe I should glue rhinestones on my nursing bra and that would make things alright *wink*. Overt sexuality everywhere - TV, mags, etc. and a breast actually performing its God given function is sneered at. It is just one of those grand mysteries of life.

The Blue Koi- is that seafood? Bob was just stressing the other day that we won't be able to get good, affordable seafood in the Midwest. I told him that it IS a city, lol.

Jess

Link doesn't work....

I remember breastfeeding Chloe at a sushi bar when she was very little...and in a sidewalk cafe, out in the open. We weren't the only ones, either. Of course we live in a somewhat odd place.

I don't know about Europe though -- i think it is much less socially acceptable to breastfeed in public there. At least where i used to live....i think it all really depends on the local culture.

I'm not sure people are that used to public breastfeeding around here, either. I'm fine with it, but I don't actually remember ever seeing it. But then a lot of Dutch women aren't much into breastfeeding for more than a few weeks/months, I think, so that would probably help too.

I remember seeing some things about women in the UK breastfeeding in public en masse to protest society's problem with public breastfeeding.
